Separate diesel duty and emissions needs before checking grade, performance and OEM requirements. PTT DYNAMIC is a product family whose versions are not interchangeable.

Duty class is more than vehicle size

Passenger diesels, pickups and heavy trucks can have different engine and aftertreatment requirements. ACEA light-duty A/B and C categories and heavy-duty E categories are not a numerical ranking. DPF, SCR and engine design affect eligibility. Start with engine and manual codes rather than a universal-diesel claim.

Identify engine, year, manual and installed DPF/SCR before recording grade and performance codes. DPF and SCR serve different aftertreatment functions; a Euro number or exhaust appearance is insufficient. Heavy-truck experience need not fit a light vehicle requiring an OEM-specific C oil. Build requirements for the exact engine.

Two PTT versions compared

Two PTT versions compared
Product versionFactory-page informationSelection limit
DYNAMIC COMMONRAILSAE 10W-30/15W-40; API CI-4/SLCommon-rail and stated CI-4 applications; not every DPF vehicle
DYNAMIC SYNTECSAE 15W-40; API CK-4, CJ-4/SNHeavy-duty diesel with listed DPF/SCR applications; verify the engine specification

The table is a version-specific starting point, not a family ranking. Match the actual COMMONRAIL 10W-30 or 15W-40 grade and SYNTEC 15W-40; do not generalize all namesake grades. Resolve page/data-sheet updates against the supplied version. Retain batch and formulation identity rather than treating last year's documentation as permanent.

How to use the comparison

The COMMONRAIL page lists common-rail pickups, EGR/turbo use and specified CI-4 applications. SYNTEC is a 15W-40 heavy-duty product listing aftertreatment use. These version-specific details do not confer every OEM approval on the family, nor establish Taiwan packaging, pricing or availability.

Factory applications identify candidates, not final authorization. A CI-4 work vehicle allowing the stated grade can proceed to other checks; a common-rail passenger vehicle requiring another low grade/OEM code cannot share it by injection type alone. Preserve wording and evidence type for listed OEM codes, verifying formal approval when required.

Aftertreatment needs more than a low-ash slogan

Engines requiring controlled sulfated ash, phosphorus and sulfur—SAPS—need their specified category and OEM code. A light-duty diesel requiring a particular C category is not automatically covered by heavy-duty CK-4 or a low-SAPS phrase. Viscosity and performance conditions must also match.

Aftertreatment suitability does not repair mechanical oil consumption, DPF regeneration faults or SCR problems. Diagnose persistent consumption and emissions warnings. Retain symptoms and fault information, using confirmed suitable oil for changes and top-ups instead of untraceable leftovers between services.

Category upgrades have compatibility limits

CK-4 and FA-4 are not freely interchangeable; FA-4 needs manufacturer authorization. Older categories still require checks of engine, fuel and maintenance conditions. Later letters are not a universal rule. A 15W-40 CK-4 suitable for one truck does not suit a passenger diesel requiring an OEM-specific 0W-30.

For diesel updates, check OEM permission and API compatibility before alphabetic assumptions. FA-4 efficiency is not universal authorization, while CK-4 still needs other mandatory matches. Fuel sulfur and operating conditions affect suitability and service; another market's advice is not automatically transferable. Request requirement-by-requirement evidence.

Prepare service and quotation information

Provide vehicle, year, engine, aftertreatment, capacity and duty information to the workshop or DYNAMAX Petrochemical LTD. for comparison with current PTT documentation. Idling, loads and extended-drain plans need applicable conditions and validation. Color alone is not a change criterion; retain version, filter and service records.

A quote request should include engine code, current requirements, approvals, fill and annual duty, then ask for suitable PTT items and packs. Separate technical choice from stock/price. Verify product, filter and level after service, logging distance or hours. Darkening alone does not demand immediate replacement, but pressure, temperature or metallic noise needs diagnosis.

Frequently asked questions

Q1. Can every DYNAMIC oil be used with DPF?

Do not infer it from the family name; check the exact product and engine.

Q2. Is diesel oil always excluded from gasoline engines?

Some have dual ratings, but all mandatory gasoline-engine requirements must match.

Q3. Does an OEM code on a page establish approval?

Check the wording and OEM evidence rather than turning a standards list into an approval statement.
